Someone Being Hypnotized

Learning how to hypnotize someone is not difficult if you take things step by step. One of the first things you should be aware of is that there are various methods to hypnotizing people. Some hypnotists specialize in a particular method, others are proficient in a variety of methods. At the more advanced levels, being well rounded is better, but starting off, it is a good idea to focus on particular method until you are proficient in it. This article will focus on three well known methods that you can start with on our journey to hypnosis master.

Intense focus

This is the stereotypical method of hypnosis involving fixing your gaze on a certain item. In the movies, it is a clock or a pendulum that rocks back and forth while the subject focuses on it until he or she falls into trace. Another popular symbol is spiraling circular shape that has become associated with hypnotism as it makes a person disoriented a bit after looking at it for a while. The point is to have the subject focus so intently on the object that everything else will be tuned out. Then the hypnotist can start to talk to the subject in the low, soothing voice they are known for, which helps further relax the patient and prepare them for the hypnotic induction. Someone Being Hypnotized

Sir Yes Sir

This is a method that is popular on stage hypnosis shows where people such as Derren Brown hypnotize people as part of a stage performance for the audience’s entertainment. Due to the performance element, this method is pretty intense and involved a high response rate and dramatic impact. The hypnotist attacks the subject with powerful commands – commands forceful enough to convince the subject he is under the power of the hypnotist. That way, it will be easier for the hypnotist to put suggestions in the subject’s mind.

Progressive Relaxation

The aim of this method is to make the subject relax completely. The subject will be so comfortable and at ease that his defenses will be down, and he will fall into a highly responsive trance state in which he is open to hypnotic suggestions. This is the traditional method used often by psychiatrists. It is useful for patients with certain ailments or those who experiences extreme stress and trauma because the entire process gradual and relaxed, not a blunt trauma type of induction like the stage show variety previously mentioned. This method as part of a hypnotherapy program, can produce a feeling of calm and well-being, which will be beneficial to the patient. Someone Being Hypnotized
